About the event

Our speaker, Donna Ockenden has more than 30 years experience of working within a variety of health settings both in the UK and internationally including increasingly senior NHS leadership roles for more than 15 years. She is the current chair of the Independent Review into Maternity Services at the Nottingham University Hospitals Trust (NUH) and also chaired the recently published Independent Review into Maternity Services at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH).

Known as the 'Ockenden Review', this was a landmark report that involved Donna leading a large team of medical professionals spanning from Leeds to Plymouth, all of whom worked alongside her to independently review nearly 1600 cases. It continues to guide maternity care and obstectric practice to provide the highest standards of both care and safety to mothers and babies alike. Undoubtedly, the ongoing review in Nottingham will seek to build on those solid foundations.

Please come along for an insight into the difficulties faced on the front lines of obstetric care, the lessons that have been learned and those that continue to pose a challenge going forward. It is essential viewing for anyone with either a medical or legal interest in maternity care, anyone who may rely on maternity services in the future and anyone who relied upon maternity services in the past (including when you were born)... which should cover all our members!

The lecture will commence at 8.00 p.m. and will be preceded by drinks (6.15 p.m.) and a two course dinner at (6.45pm) for members and their guests. Please note that the venue is the Athenaeum and not the usual venue of the LMI. Dinner reservations will close on midday two days before the event.
