Dr Alexandra Harkins MA MBBS MRCGP DCH DRCOG DFSRH PGCE
Dr Alexandra Harkins is the Responsible Officer for the Independent Doctors Federation. Previously she was the Primary Care Medical Director and Lead Appraiser at Health Management Ltd in the City and a member of the company’s Wider Leadership team and Clinical Governance Group. Prior to her role as Responsible Officer Alex was an appraiser for the IDF, an appraiser of Responsible Officers for NHS England and an appraiser for Public Health England. She also sat on the IDF Appraisal Committee from 2013 to 2015. Alex is currently a specialist advisor for CQC and an appraiser of NHS GPs in North West London. Outside of work Alex enjoys family life with her husband and two children.

She will also update the society on the results of the Cumberlege Report into patient safety that followed including the ongoing use of pelvic mesh.
